BKS Leather makes its MotoGP debut

21/01/2008

Recently acquired by the Frank Thomas Group, British-based BKS Leather will make its debut in MotoGP this year as British contender James Toseland makes his debut in the motorcycle racing championship wearing the company’s leathers.

Mr Toseland will be the first professional motorcycle racer ever to wear the company’s leathers and will also be the only rider on the grid protected by a British brand.

Commenting on the new deal, Brian Sansom, founder of BKS said: “Today has been an incredibly proud moment in my career to date. The Frank Thomas Group acquisition coincided with the 21st birthday of BKS – making it a double celebration, but the James Toseland relationship is the icing on the cake. Even though I am sure our hard work and reputation is deserved, and in my dreams I always hoped we would see a world class rider in BKS products; it remained beyond our resource. Thanks to the Frank Thomas Group, BKS has been able to apply those extra resources and support for world class rider James Toseland in MotoGP. This is the fulfilment of a life-long ambition.”

Mr Samson recently sold the brand name rights to the Frank Thomas Group but will still carry on in charge of the company and will also act as technical director.
