According to media reports, Tunisia’s economy is booming with overall exports in the period January to October of 2007 rising 25.7% compared with a fairly stagnant first ten months in 2006.

While the best performances were reported in the mechanical and electrical industries, in which exports improved 34.1% and 24% respectively, the leather and footwear segment posted impressive growth, with exports rising 21.5% year-on-year, having only increased 3.7% in the same period of 2006.
