Lincoln adds a touch of Scottish luxury

08/01/2008

With the aim of heralding the Lincoln’s comeback as a true luxury car make, the company has sought to add a little extra touch to its latest model, the MKS sedan, through the use of “the best, thickest and most supple leather that Lincoln has ever offered.” Sourced from Bridge of Weir Leather in Scotland, which also supplies Volvo, Jaguar and Aston Martin, Lincoln has gone back to its roots somewhat, as the last time Bridge of Weir supplied the company was for the its 1956 Continental Mark II.

Commenting on the new chromium-free leather, Jennifer Hewlett, interior colour and materials designer, said: "We took a huge step forward on this car in terms of materials."

The three-year contract to supply leather to Ford for the new Lincoln model is said to be worth £23 million for  Bridge of Weir.
