Leather exports slump

03/01/2008

Although Turkey reported a significant improvement in overall exports in December and 2007 as a whole, the leather industry failed to enjoy the same success, recording the largest decline of any sector.

According to figures released by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) while the country’s exports rose 7.68% year-on-year in December to reach $9.4 billion, leather and leather goods exports declined a massive 34.61%.
