Upper leather on the up

13/12/2007

The Pakistan government's Federal Bureau of Statistics has released new figures showing a 15% rise in the country's production of leather for footwear uppers.

The figures relate to the month of September, when Pakistani tanneries produced 1.7 million square-metres of upper leather, and the comparison is with the same month in 2006.

Over the same period, however, production of sole leather fell by more than 16%.
