Brazilian meatpacker and processor Marfrig, which owns 13 facilities in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, has acquired Rio Grande do Sul-based meat processor Mabella.

According to Marfrig the acquisition will allow the company to expand its distribution network and further increase production.

Established in 2001 Mabella operates two abattoirs with a total capacity of 4,200 head per day.
