Ostrich exports rise 16%

According to new figures released by Peru’s Asociación de Exportadores (ADEX) exports of ostrich meat and products, including leather, increased 16% in the first nine months to reach $296,459, up from $255,000 in the same period last year.

Ostrich leather made up a large majority of ostrich goods, accounting for a massive 85% of exports worth $251,000, followed by ostrich meat exports which at $42,000 made up 14% of exports.

The main market for the South American country’s ostrich products was Japan which imported a massive 93% of Peru’s total goods, followed by Mexico and Portugal.
