BASF launches new leather “inspirations” catalogue
Having successfully launched the first edition of its Inspirations for Leather catalogue in April this year (see www.leatherbiz.com April 19) German chemical company BASF AG has published a second edition highlighting 12 new types of leather and 32 fashion colours for spring/summer 2009.
Developed specifically for the European market, the new collection, called Edition Venezia, combines the bright colours of the Venetian carnival with a variety of unusual features such as fine stripes in fresh pastel shades, brightly-coloured leather with two-tone brushstroke effects for summer evening wear, and spots and polka dots for relaxed leisure wear. Another new effect is a marbled texture that gives the leather a slightly vintage look.
Commenting on the new catalogue, Gerhard Wolf, head of global technical service at the company’s leather department said, “Our technicians in Spain and Italy are the experts when it comes to creating fashionable leather, but our staff in other European countries have also contributed some very attractive designs.”
