Lanxess boosts focus on Eastern Europe with new appointments
Having already announced the opening of new eastern European sales offices (see www.leatherbiz.com October 18) German chemical company Lanxess has made new appointments and personnel changes to further enhance growth in Eastern Europe and Russia.
With effect from January 1, Flemming-Björn Björnslev, currently head of Marketing for the Phosphorous Chemicals business line of the Functional Chemicals business unit, will take over the management of the newly- incorporated company Lanxess Central Eastern Europe s.r.o. in Bratislava, Slovakia, which will handle all business in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. Michael Offermanns will take up the role of chief financial officer at the company. Georges Barbey also recently joined Lanxess’ Management Board Staff division for Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Mr Barbey, who was previously senior vice-president Central & Eastern Europe at Basell Polyolefine Europe, will report directly to Dr Werner Breuers.
Meanwhile, Joerg Hellwig will take over as head of the company’s Inorganic Pigments (IPG) business unit on January 1. Mr Hellwig, who was previously managing director of Trevira GmbH, will replace Wolfgang Schmitz, who has managed IPG and Lanxess’ subsidiary Saltigo since July this year.
