21/11/2007

Following the resignation last week of Massimo Macchi, Italian luxury fashion and leathergoods group Gianfranco Ferré has named Michela Piva as CEO of Gianfranco S.p.A. Ms Piva has worked at Ferré since 2003, most recently as director of marketing and merchandising.

Commenting on her appointment company chairman, Tonino Perna, said, "The nomination of Michela Piva as CEO of Ferré represents a fundamental step in the company's development strategy and is consistent with the project kicked off in September with the nomination of Lars Nilsson as creative director. Michela Piva has a solid background in the luxury market, deep experience of international markets, and a direct knowledge of the Maison Ferré, for which she has worked with continued success over the last five years."

Ms Piva has already worked directly with Lars Nilsson, who took control of creative design at the company following the death of company founder Gianfranco Ferré earlier this year.
