Bangladesh raises export target

Having reported an impressive 14.89% increase in leather exports up to August alone (see www.leatherbiz.com November 2) Bangladesh has now raised its export target for the financial year 2007/08 (June-July). The country is now aiming to increase leather exports by 15% year-on-year from $411 million in FY2006/07 to $473 million this year.

In terms of product groups, it hopes to boost footwear exports to $165 million up from $113 million in 2006/07, finished leather to $295 million from $290 million, and leathergoods to $13 million from $8 million.
