Chemical companies expand in central Europe
The central European market appears to be becoming evermore attractive to the world’s leading global chemical companies. Germany-based Lanxess’ revealed plans to open a new sales office in Slovakia last month (see leatherbiz.com October 18) and now American producer Rohm and Haas has announced that it too will expand its presence in the region with the opening of a new warehouse in Poland.
The warehouse, which will be located in Mszczonów, 50 km south of Warsaw, will store products from Rohm and Haas manufacturing plants in France (Lauterbourg, Chauny, Semoy), UK (Grangemouth, Dewsbury, Jarrow), Italy (Mozzate, Mozzanica, Parona, Romano) and Sweden (Landskrona) and will serve as 24/7 supply centre for direct Polish and central European customers. It is the company’s first facility of this type in the region.
Rohm and Haas opened an office in Poland in October 2006 in order to manage sales and development in central European countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and Hungary.
