Leder & Schuh denies trouble in the ranks
Austria’s largest footwear retailer Leder & Schuh AG has strongly denied that the company is up for sale or that there is disagreement between the firm’s owners. The statement was issued following media reports speculating such a situation after one of the main shareholders Michael Mayer-Rieckh sold a 30% interest in the company.
Commenting on the reports chairman, Dr Gottfried Maresch, said that the sale of Mr Mayer-Rieckh’s interest in the firm in no way signalled a prospective sale of the company and was just “normal business”.
Leder & Schuh currently operates approximately 300 retail outlets in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Poland and plans to expand into Hungary next year.
