IULTCS secretary to retire

Secretary/treasurer of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemist Societies (IULTCS), John Williams, will retire on December 31.

He has been involved in the leather industry for some 49 years and has held his current position for the past five years. Prior to this he served on the IULTCS Executive Committee as regional representative for Northern Europe and as chairman of the IUP Commission of the ILUTCS for six years, during which time he was responsible for steering through 44 new or revised physical tests and chaired CEN/TC 289/WG 2 (Physical test methods committee).

He will also retire as a member of the IUE (Environmental) Commission of the IULTCS.

Announcing his retirement, Mr Williams said, “I am indebted for all the help and support of the members of the executive committee, commissions and to individuals from the member associations who have contributed so much to the improved success of the IULTCS.”

He will be succeeded as secretary/treasurer by Dr Campbell Page, who is the current chair of the IUF (Fastness) testing Commission of the IULTCS.

Meanwhile, Marc Folachier, president of IULTCS will also retire on December 31. He will be succeeded by Elton Hurlow.
