The US footwear manufacturing industry has been given a boost through a new military deal. US-based manufacturer of military footwear and performance leathers Bates, part of the Wolverine Footwear Group, has been approved to develop and manufacture 10,000 pairs of Tora Bora Alpine Combat Boots under a new $2.2 million government contract with the US Special Operations Command. All of the boots will be produced with 100% US-sourced materials at US-based ISO 9001:2000 compliant manufacturing facilities in Rockford, Michigan; Big Rapids, Michigan; and Jonesboro, Arkansas.
