German chemicals giant BASF AG has reported further sales increases for the third quarter, which have set the company on course to report another record year in 2007.

For the third quarter overall sales improved 5% to nearly €14 billion, with all of the firm’s segments reporting increased volumes. In the Chemicals segment, sales improved 5% and all divisions, with the exception of Petrochemicals which was impacted by scheduled plant turnarounds, contributed to this increase.

Sales at the Performance Products segment edged 1% higher as a result of increased volumes.

The company now expects sales to rise to nearly €58 billion for 2007, up from the record €52.6 billion reported in 2006.
