Phoenix makes changes
The footwear industry is a highly competitive sector and it appears that many large US companies are looking to streamline their operations and make management changes before the end of the year in order to maintain their positions gong into 2008. After Wolverine Worldwide’s announcement of extensive management changes at the end of last week, dress and casual footwear, belt and accessories company Phoenix Footwear Group, Inc. has now followed suit.
Announcing the changes president and CEO, Cathy Taylor, stated, “As part of our ongoing assessment of the business, we have implemented a number of management changes that we believe will help to strengthen the team and improve financial performance.”
In its sourcing operations, Phoenix has appointed Jim Ferguson as country manager responsible for its China sourcing office and operations, as well as new product development and material specialist personnel in China and at its US headquarters. As part of the changes, Prasad Reddy, vice president, Sourcing, will leave the company.
In its operational section, Bill Bryant has been promoted to director of Logistics and Customer Service, and Mia Goodman, has been promoted to vice president, Forecasting and Planning. A new position of senior vice president, Operations has also been created, which will be held by Doug Ford.
Finally, in its financial operation Scott Sporrer who is currently controller of the company has been appointed interim chief financial officer, replacing Ken Wolf who has resigned.
