WTO examines Colombian import restrictions

24/10/2007

The World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Dispute Settlement Board (DSB) has established a panel to examine Colombia's import restrictions and restrictive measures imposed on imports from Panama.

The panel was set up following a second request from Panama in which it claimed that it was experiencing serious difficulties in accessing Colombia's market.

Panama claims that it has been trying to resolve this issue for the last two years through consultation, but that Colombia had “unilaterally ignored the mutually agreed solution” and reintroduced import measures.
