AAFA welcomes new US legislation to assist poorer countries
The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has welcomed the introduction of new legislation to support the world’s least developed nations through cutting duties on imports such as footwear and apparel.
It is hoped that the New Partnership for Development Act (NPDA) will open up the way for some of the poorest countries, many of which are in Africa, to boost trade through reduced import duties and other incentives aimed at encouraging market-based and sustainable economic growth.
“The NPDA empowers least developed nations with tangible market access and predictability – the building blocks for economic development and investment,” said Kevin Burke, president and CEO of the AAFA.
