Handbag industry remains in full swing
High consumer demand for women’s handbags and purses is showing no signs of waning. According to a new report, released by Research and Markets, 2006 revenues for the US handbag and purse manufacturing industry reached $497 million, with gross profit at around 34%.
However, in spite of this positive picture the divide between domestically produced goods and imports remains wide. Although the USA exported $226.72 million worth of such goods to 102 countries in 2006, the import figures reached a massive $2.4 billion.
