Bovine meat exports climb 18%
Whilst potential tax increases may be putting a strain on the leather industry in certain parts of Brazil at present, the country’s meat industry is buoyant as bovine meat exports continue to rise.
According to the Brazilian Beef Industry and Exporters Association (Abiec) shipments for the first nine months (January to September) totalled US$3.3 billion, up 18% over the same period in 2006. Russia remains the main export market, followed by Egypt.
