VW tops Chinese auto sales
According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, car manufacturers sold 4.58 million passenger vehicles in the first nine months of 2007, up 23.84% from the figures reported in the same period last year.
Car sales rose 25.76% to 3.44 million cars, sports-utility vehicle sales increased 51.7% to 251,700 and multi-purpose vehicles sales improved 20.75% to 165,300.
FAW Volkswagen posted the highest sales at 684,786 vehicles, followed by Shanghai Volkswagen and Shanghai General Motors, with Chinese producer Chery remaining fourth.
