Ugandan factory closure expected
Reports indicate that a tannery in the Jinja area of Uganda is likely to shut down following its failure to clean up pollution caused by waste produce.
A visit to the area by Mayor Mohammed Kezaala and environment officer Earnest Nabihamba, which was prompted by a series of complaints from concerned residents, led to the order.
The tannery was given less than a week to sort out its waste treatment process, or it will be closed down by environmental authorities.
