China in the clear over health-scare furniture

The retail group at the centre of a health-scare involving leather furniture has confirmed that its investigation into the incident is ongoing.
A spokesperson for Home Retail Group, the parent company of Argos, has confirmed that it has withdrawn tow lines of leather furniture after customers reported skin complaints from coming into contact with the products.
But the company has told leatherbiz.com that it will not reveal the name of the tannery at the centre of the controversy until the investigation is complete.
The spokesperson said: "We are unable to confirm the tannery's location. However, some media reports have suggested it is in China, and I can confirm this is not the case."
