Bertin uses new eco leathers
Bovine leather producer and exporter Bertin Couros, a division of Brazilian company the Bertin Group, has started producing a range of ecological leathers.
The leathers, which are tanned using extracts from native Brazilian plants such as arrack, lentiscus (mastic tree), black acacia and chestnut, will be used to make footwear and leather goods, such as belts, handbags and wallets.
As the tanning process uses biodegradable materials, the company’s environmental footprint will be reduced.
The new products will be sold both domestically and as exported goods.
Bertin Couros processes bovine hides, marketing them under the Bracol brand as wet blue, crust and finished leather for the footwear, furniture, automotive and leather goods sectors.
