Leather on top in Tuscany

Recent figures from Italy's National Statistics Institute and a regional economics body in Tuscany show that the leather and footwear sectors are at the forefront of the fashion industry in that part of Italy.
The region is host 4,295 companies involved in producing or working with leather and a further 2,455 that specifically design and manufacture footwear. Together, they employ almost 35,000 people.
The figures show that as many companies are involved in leather and footwear in Tuscany as those that devote themselves to producing textiles.
