The leather industry in Matto Grosso do Sul state in Brazil is running training courses for young people who want to enter the sector.
The next course, which will take place in the training centre in the Estrela Dalva district of state capital, Campo Grande, is specifically for people who want to learn to operate machines for handbag and leather accessory manufacture.
The course runs from September 10–23 and, as part of it, participants will receive an in-depth briefing on the history of leather and visit a tannery.
Director of the training centre, Meire Pelk, said the idea was to give the young people taking part in the course as full an understanding as possible of the raw material they would have to work with.
