New committee roles for SATRA expert

SATRA’s Mike Wilson’s has been appointed chairman of two key international committees.
Mr Wilson—advanced concepts technologist at the UK-based research and technology centre—will head the CEN TC289 Working Group 2, which looks after European physical test methods for leather, and the physical test commission of the International Union of Leather Technologists and Chemists Societies (IULTCS).
These committees run in parallel, holding joint meetings to look at physical and mechanical test methods for leather in all applications, including footwear, upholstery and automotive.
By combining IULTCS and CEN meetings the leather industry has made significant progress in developing ISO and EN standards. This work also covers chemical and fastness testing.
