$500,000 in indirect aid to leather production companies

Brazil's association for leather machinery producers, Abrameq, held a meeting earlier this week in Novo Hamburgo to decide how to spend an aid budget of $500,000.

The organisation's executive director, Marcelo Adriano, said the aim was to help the main centres of leather and footwear production in Brazil stay competitive.

With this in mind, he said the money would go towards projects for sharing in-depth technical knowledge regarding the production of leather, work safety, how to get the best use of leather machinery and to promote the image of leather to the market.
