Chile and Ecuador sign leather pact
29/08/2007
Institutions representing the leather industry in Chile and Ecuador have signed a co-operation agreement.
The far-reaching accord commits the leather sectors in both countries to work together to promote leather exports and to share information on technical developments, environmental issues, protection of intellectual property and industry data.
There will also be greater collaboration between customs officials in both countries with regard to trade in leather.
Neither Ecuador nor Chile is a full member of the Mercosur common market, which is dominated by the larger economies of the region.
