Tannery blamed for pollution

A tannery in the Argentinian province of Entre Ríos is not to blame for pollution in a local river, according to the authorities.
Ecological groups have pointed the finger at the tannery, which is on an industrial site five kilometres outside the town of Ramírez.
Pollution in a local stream has caused illness and death among cattle, but a spokesman for the local authority, Daniel Kramer, told local media that the tannery complied with all environmental regulations.
