Nepal’s hide and skin exports fall
According to the Nepal Economic Survey FY2006-07, exports of hides and skins from Nepal slipped 13% to NPR187 million ($2.88 million) in the first eight months of fiscal 2006/2007, from NPR215 million in the comparable prior-year period. The decline has been attributed to increased domestic consumption, particularly in the footwear manufacturing industry.
The country’s total exports during the first eight months increased 14.7% to reach NPR43.31 billion.
