BASF to focus on environmental protection at Moscow show
German specialty chemicals producer BASF will present a number of products focusing on innovation and environmental protection at the Leather Footwear Fur Technology Fair in
Highlights will include products and processes that offer ecological and economic advantages such as Eusapon OC, Lepton Enhancer CP, Relugan Soft HF and Relugan GM, as well as established products for use at all stages of the production process.
Eusapon OC is a new universal, environmentally-friendly degreasing agent that can be employed at all stages of the beamhouse process. It is said to have all the technical, economic and advantages of Eusapon OD but with an even higher emulsifying power and is the second degreasing agent that BASF has developed especially for the leather and fur industry.
Lepton Enhancer CP is said to allow foam finishes to be applied through less complicated techniques such as spraying or reverse roller coating. It is also said to give an excellent fill and excellent coverage, even on low-quality crust, producing leather that has a natural appearance and a pleasant handle.
Relugan Soft HF combines the advantages of polymeric retanning agents with those of synthetic fatliquors. The result is that the leather is so soft across its whole area that fatliquors based on natural oils can be reduced or eliminated completely. It is said to impart a high level of migration resistance, lightfastness and heat resistance with low-fogging and a low VOC content and is well-suited for use on all types of soft leather, especially automotive leather and upholstery leather.
Relugan GM is a tanning agent that provides high performance at a low price. It is said to be easy to handle, making it a popular low-cost tanning agent for wet white. Another advantage is that it penetrates quickly and evenly through the skin and the leather, especially leather that is dyed to white and pastel shades, responds well to dyeing.
