Brazil's National Service for Industrial Training (Senai) in the state of Matto Grosso has opened its eleventh specialist training centre. The site of the new facility is the town of Colíder.

The training centre, which involved an investment of around $500,000, will aim to pass on skills, especially in making leather from the hides and skins of cattle and wild animals, to the local workforce.

Senai's regional director for Matto Grosso,
Gilberto Gomes de Figueiredo, said on opening the new centre that the leather industry offered the region a high level of scope for growth.

The training on offer will include special courses on making handbags and other goods from local leather.
