Biodiversity pays off for Sanimax

03/08/2007
Canadian rendering company Sanimax has announced that a new biofuels refinery it has set up in Wisconsin has already produced 7.5 million litres of biodiesel. The plant will now step up operations and will have the capacity, Sanimax says, to produce 75 million litres a year.

Sanimax has four specialist processing plants in Canada and the US that specialise in preparing the hides and skins of cattle, sows and veal  to be made into leather. The company has decided to use animal fat as part of the feedstock for its biofuels process.
