Higher Q3 beef sales at Tyson Foods

The world's largest processor of chicken, beef and pork Tyson Foods, Inc. has reported sales of $7 billion for its third quarter ended June 30 compared with $6.4 billion for the same period last year. Net income was $111 million compared with a net loss of $52 million for the third quarter of 2006.

Sales for the first nine months of fiscal 2007 totalled $20 billion compared with $19.1 billion for the same period last year, while net income was $236 million compared with a net loss of $140 million.

Beef segment sales were $3.4 billion for the third quarter and $9.4 billion for the first nine months.
