Minister visits polluted river

A dispute over pollution in Hungary, for which local authorities blame a tannery across the border in Austria, is continuing. This weekend, Hungary’s environment minister, Gábor Fodor, visited the site on the River Rába where pollution has appeared, apparently coming downstream from the neighbouring country. He called for environmental officials from both countries to carry out formal tests on the water quality on that stretch of the river.

As reported by leatherbiz.com at the time, the problem first emerged in May when the local authorities in Hungary said the pollution was affecting tourism.
