Madrid-based leather goods and accessories house Loewe—part of French luxury goods group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton—has appointed Stuart Vevers as its creative director. Mr Vevers, who currently works as design director for UK-based leather goods and apparel company Mulberry, will work exclusively for Loewe from January 2008.

He has collaborated with Bottega Veneta and Givenchy (part of the LVMH Group) in the past and, in 2002, joined Louis Vuitton’s runway bags team under the direction of Marc Jacobs.

Mr Vevers was named fashion accessories designer of the year by the British Fashion Council in 2006.
