Following a weak start to the year, the manufacturing sector in Italy appears to have picked up as reports indicate that production rose 0.4% in March, 0.5% in April and 0.9% in May.

According to ISTAT, the Italian National Institute of Statistics, the sectors recording the best performance included leather, footwear, textiles and clothing and furniture.
