Brazilian Member of Parliament and former leather and shoe industry representative in Brasilia, Julio Cesar Redecker, died in a plane crash at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo on July 17.

During the three terms that Mr Redecker represented the leather and footwear industries, he submitted several legal projects that have benefited the sectors.

The Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) and the Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Abicalçados) have both expressed their grief on hearing of his death. “Julio Redecker was a good friend, an indefatigable defender of all matters relating to the leather and shoe sectors and a highly competent political articulator,” said Umberto Cilião Sacchelli, president of CICB.
