Following the resignation of Peter Boneparth, US designer and wholesaler of branded apparel, footwear and accessories Jones Apparel Group, Inc. has appointed Wesley Card as president and CEO, effective immediately. He has also been elected to the board of directors.

Having joined the company in 1990 as its chief financial officer, with the added responsibility of chief operating officer since 2002, Mr Card has 28 years’ experience in the apparel industry, having also worked at Warnaco Inc. and Carolyn Roehm.

He is also on the board of the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) and was chairman of the association from 2005 to 2007.

The company has named John McClain as chief financial officer, effective July 16.

Jones Apparel operates the Barneys New York chain of luxury stores and owns brands such as Jones New York, Nine West, Anne Klein, Gloria Vanderbilt, Bandolino, and l.e.i.
