Rohm and Haas commits to sustainability

US-based Rohm and Haas Company has announced that it is to allocate approximately half of its nearly $300 million research and development budget for 2007 to developing sustainable products, increasing energy efficiency and improving processes. Many of the new products will be aimed at transforming traditional industrial applications to more sustainable, water-based acrylic technology.

Commenting on the company’s commitment to sustainability, Gary Calabrese, chief technology officer, stated, "The company was founded on the principle of continual innovation, and we expect that demand for environmentally advanced materials will continue to grow. The fact that we are devoting half of our R&D budget to environmentally advanced projects is a strong demonstration of our commitment."
