Full staffing levels resumed at Swift

The third-largest processor of fresh beef and pork in the USA Swift & Company has at last returned to standard staffing levels at all four of its domestic beef processing facilities following the detention of approximately 950 employees by the US Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement division in connection with the employment of illegal workers in December. No formal charges or accusations have been made against Swift in connection with the investigation.

“I’m pleased to report that all four of Swift’s domestic beef plants are now at or above standard staffing levels,” said Sam Rovit, president and CEO. “We are now working diligently to train our new team members to accelerate the return of our beef facilities to full production capacity.”

The company expects the financial impact estimate of the December event to be $50 million for its fiscal year.
