Positive results at Geox

Italian casual footwear and apparel brand Geox has posted improved results for the first quarter.

The company’s consolidated sales increased 29% to reach €315.2 million, with footwear saleswhich grew 29%representing 95%, or €300.5 million, of this total.

Italy remained the group’s main market accounting for 35% of sales compared with 40% in the 2006 quarter, with a 15% increase in sales to reach €111.7 million. International markets rose 37%, generating €203.6 million, whilst Europe (excluding Italy) generated 51% of sales compared with 50% in the same period in 2006, totalling €161.4 million, an increase of 32%.

Net income increased 38% to €72.5 million compared with €52.6 million in the corresponding period in 2006.
