US specialty retailer and wholesale distributor of leather, leatherworking tools, leather dyes and finishes, saddle and tack hardware Tandy Leather Factory, Inc. has reported slightly improved results for the first quarter of 2007. Net income remained flat at $1.3 million, whilst total sales edged higher to $14.5 million, up slightly from the $14.4 million posted in the same quarter of 2006.

Sales from the company’s Retail Leathercraft operation, consisting of the Tandy Leather retail store chain, increased 13%, or $713,000, whilst sales for the Wholesale Leathercraft operation, consisting of the Leather Factory wholesale centres and the National Account group, decreased $280,000, or 3%.

Tandy distributes its products through 29 Leather Factory stores, located in 19 US states and three Canadian provinces, 67 Tandy Leather retail stores, located in 31 US states and four Canadian provinces, and its Mid-Continent Leather Sales store located in Oklahoma.
