Footwear and leather goods sales rise 26% at Hugo Boss

German luxury products company Hugo Boss has posted a 9% sales increase for the first quarter of 2007, to reach €500 million from €459 million in the comparable period of 2006. On a currency-adjusted basis sales increased 12%.

Boss Womenswear performed particularly well, with sales growth of 42% totalling €62 million compared with €44 million in the prior year period. Net income also rose to reach €7 million from €3 million. Footwear and leather accessories boosted sales with a gain of 26% to reach €58 million compared with €46 million.

On a geographical basis, sales in Europe improved 11% to €366 million €330 million, with sales in Germany increasing 7% to €104 million from €97 million. US sales increased 17% in local currency and 7% in euros to €54 million compared with €51 million while sales in Asia/other regions rose 4% to €48 million from €46 million.
