Sales rise 5% at Rohm and Haas

24/04/2007

US chemicals producer Rohm and Haas Company has posted first quarter 2007 sales of $2,160 million, a 5% increase over the same period in 2006, reflecting stronger sales in its Performance Materials and Salt Group and continued growth in the Electronic Materials business.

Sales for the Performance Materials Group reached $290 million in the quarter, up 6%, boosted by stronger demand in the Asia-Pacific and Latin American regions, coupled with the impact of favourable currencies in Europe, which more than offset weakness in North America. Process Chemicals and Biocides sales also increased 6%, as a result of strong demand for ion exchange resins across all regions and segments.
