Smit and Zoon holds technical seminar in Vietnam

In an attempt to further promote the Smit brand in the Vietnamese leather market, Dutch leather chemicals company Smit & Zoon recently held a technical seminar in Ho Chi Minh City, organised in conjunction with Behn Meyer Vietnam.

The event included presentations on neutralising and looseness, the company’s latest product developments, and an overview of global and Vietnamese trends. Vietnam’s leather industry really took off four years ago when companies began to look for alternative production sites outside China. The country is now home to several international tanneries, each of which produces between one million and ten million square feet of leather every month (both split and full grain). The large majority of this production is used in the manufacture of sports for brands such as Nike, adidas, Puma and Reebok.
