US-based Gerber Scientific, Inc.'s Apparel and Flexible Materials business segment, Gerber Technology, has commercially launched its Taurus X Series leather cutter featuring Pivex technology. With the ability to change direction at high rates of speed, the technology is designed to increase cutting speed for intricate shapes whilst also improving cut quality.

Powered by Gerber's new Pivex cutting technology, the Taurus is said to cut a higher volume of leather faster, eliminating over cuts and heel cuts on most parts. The high-speed reciprocating action of the knife, in conjunction with the high friction table surface, is also said to minimise hide movement and ensure precise cutting.
