As of March 16, Taiwan will impose temporary 43.46% anti-dumping duties on all footwearincluding shoes and bootsimported from mainland China. The tariffs will be applied to all Chinese footwear, with the exception of goods from one producer in Guangdong Province, which was exonerated in an anti-dumping investigation carried out by Taiwanese officials.

The measure has been taken following an investigation carried out by the country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, started in 2006, which found that cheap Chinese imports were negatively affecting the domestic industry.

The tariffs will initially remain in place for four months.
